Adjust Master List Size/Speed Whenever the system presents a master record list, for instance in #1 View/Add/Edit of the applications menu window (GL,AP, PR, OE, IN, etc.), the best scenerio is to load all the records into the list so the whole list is scrollable. However depending on the size of the master file, and the speeds of different computers, of disk drives, and of networks, loading the entire file may cause an unacceptable pause while waiting for the master file list to load. By setting a group limit to the number of records that may be loaded into the list, the wait time may be substantially decreased. If the group limit is less than the file size in records, then buttons labeled Next and Previous will appear, and are used to load/view another group. The calculated maximum group size is based on your computer's speed, and may need to be adjusted depending on other factors. Generally speaking. LOWERING the value DECREASES the WAIT time. The highest value allowed is 5000. For large files that need listing, you should use a key value to start the list close to where you wish to look. See the HELP at the list window itself. File Buffer size On Single user systems this will have very little affect. Probably the bigger the better. On network systems, you will need to experiment. May have little affect and too big may be slower. Could be affected by packet sizes and cluster sizes. 512 is a good starting place. Before this buffer option was offered, it was fixed at 128.
