Adjust Federal Withholding This amount, if not zero, will adjust federal withholding for this employee only, as follows: (Note that a rate is a percent divided by 100) Increase by an amount If greater than or equal to 1, the amount is added to the calculated federal w/h tax. Increase W/H by a rate If less than 1 and positive (> zero), the amount becomes a rate, and increases the Fed w/h by that rate. ie: .05 (same as 5%), .2 (same as 20%). May be in the range of .001 to .999 (.1% to 99.9% Replace W/H with a flat rate of Taxable Gross Pay Use a negative rate, ie -.05 (same as 5%) May be in the range of -.001 thru -.999 (for .1% to 99.9%) Examples With $500 as taxable pay, and $100 as Fed W/H from tables Using 20. the withholding becomes $120 (100+20) Using .15, the w/h becomes $115 (100 x.15 + 100) Using -.15, the w/h becomes $75 (.15 x 500).
